Drakelow Circa 1993

Drakelow Unearthed

In 1993 we were very fortunate to have frequent access to this fascinating site. Still under the ownership of the Home Office and locked away from public view since its construction in the 1940's, with some parts untouched since they became disused in the 1960's. Unfortunately our photographic skills were not great at that time, but we did our best to document and record as much as we could whilst it remained untouched. Here on these pages are our shots from that time. Many of the features shown no longer exist. Either demolished and torn down in 2008, or wrecked by airsoft players and later removed.
