The Friends of Drakelow Tunnels

Virtual Tour - North of Tunnel 4

Some of this section is not finished yet - but you are welcome to view the parts that are. Come back again soon to see more.

I have divided the areas north of Tunnel 4 into 4 sections. Starting from the western end there is the 1940's Rover office area. This was later used for dormitories in the 1960's - 1970's RSG, but shows no evidence of this.
The second section was also originally part of Rover's office area and later incorporated into the 1960's-1970's RSG. In this case remains of the RSG era are more dominant.
The next area is the 1980's RGHQ.
Finally at the eastern end are the areas that were originally part of the RAF stores in the 1940's but were again later part of the 1960's-1970's RSG. There is no evidence remaining of the RAF stores so what we see is 1960's - 1970's RSG.

Unfortunately the survey was not as comprehensive in this section. To cover as much of it as possible I have included some photos taken by other members of the team at various times between 1993 and 2009. Many of these are not of such a high quality as Roger's but do help to build a good picture as to what it was like before it was devastated. Copyright belongs to J.R.Bryan on most photos, the remainder belong to other team members.
